Chabichou du Poitou
Chabichou is said to come from the Arabic word “chebli”, meaning goat: the region may have learned to make goat’s cheese after the Saracens passed through in the 8th century. It is shaped like a small barrel bung. Poitou remains France’s leading goat’s cheese region.
